Hello from Edmonton. Mid November and still no snow here. Fabulous, as driving in the dark and on slippery streets has become a challenge for many members. Yet we continue to have good attendance at our meetings.
We adjourned for the summer after the June meeting but had the annual mountain "hike" in the same month. Then many enjoyed a pot luck and sing along at the lakeside cottage in August before reconvening in September.
In October, Anita Hochdorfer, our president, visited her home town of Ettlingen, Germany and travelled to Belgium with the Kolping group to celebrate their 40 year partnership. She says Kolping is still very active there and has many young members, unlike here in Canada.
This month we celebrated World Day of Prayer with a mass and were delighted to have Bishop G. Bittman with us. A nice lunch was served afterward.
We will hold our Advent meeting next month and have an Advent program in which we all take part. Thanks to Fr Neumann who prepares the program every year. And what would a special evening be without good food? So of course a pot-luck will be enjoyed by all.
With the many horrors and hardships happening in the world, we are so very thankful for our peaceful, prosperous and democratic country and will strive to maintain our charitable and understanding ways. As Christmas draws close we will pray for our world, and to you our Kolping family we wish you health and contentment.
